Aluvamkudi Sree Mahadeva Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located amidst the mountainous forests of Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is believed to have been established by the sage Parashurama.
During a Devaprashnam (an astrological ritual), it was revealed that Lord Rama had performed poojas at this temple.
The temple remained abandoned for many years until it was rediscovered by a hunter in the 1940s. Residents from nearby areas such as Gurunathanmannu and Thekkuthode then became involved in its revival.
The first individuals to inspect the temple after its rediscovery were locals who recognized its significance. Today, regular poojas are performed on the first day of each Malayalam month, and special poojas and festivals are held annually on Shivaratri, celebrating the temple's revival and honoring Lord Shiva.
