The Amruteshvara Temple, also spelled as Amrutesvara or Amruteshwara, is situated in the village of Amruthapura, approximately 67 km north of Chikmagalur town, in the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka, India.
Amruthapura, located 110 km from Hassan and 50 km from Shimoga along NH 206, is renowned for the Amruteshvara Temple. The temple was constructed in 1196 CE by Amrutheshwara Dandanayaka.
The temple is constructed in the distinctive Hoysala architectural style, featuring a spacious open mantapa (hall). Its original outer wall is adorned with unique, evenly spaced circular carvings.
The temple follows an ekakuta design, with a single vimana (shrine and tower). It features a closed mantapa (hall) that links the sanctum to the larger open mantapa.
