The Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple is a prominent Hindu temple situated in the village of Aranmula in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala, South India. This sacred site is dedicated to Lord Krishna, worshipped in his form as Parthasarathy, the charioteer of Arjuna in the epic Mahabharata.
As an avatar of Vishnu, Lord Krishna is worshipped here as Parthasarathy, the charioteer of Arjuna. The temple is built in the traditional Kerala architectural style and is recognized as one of the "Divya Desams," which are the 108 temples of Vishnu revered by the Alvar saints.
The Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple is among the most significant Krishna temples in Kerala and is recognized as one of the five ancient shrines in the state linked to the legends of the Mahabharata.
According to tradition, the five Pandavas are believed to have constructed one temple each, with Aranmula dedicated to the Pandava prince Arjuna. Additionally, the sacred jewels known as Thiruvabharanam, associated with Lord Ayyappan, are taken in procession to Sabarimala each year from Pandalam, making Aranmula Temple one of the important stops along the way.
