Chilkur, also known as Chilkoor, is a village and panchayat located in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, India. It falls under the Moinabad mandal and is famous for its notable attractions.
Chilkur is home to the renowned Chilkur Balaji Temple and the Mrugavani National Park. It is the largest and most populous village in the Moinabad Mandal.
Chilkur village was established around 2,500 years ago. It has been under the rule of various dynasties, including the Mauryas, Satavahanas, Guptas, and Chalukyas.
Chilkur village has also been ruled by the Rashtrakutas, Kakatiyas, Qutb Shahis, and Nizams. Its ancient name, as mentioned in inscriptions, was "Chilukuru Puram." The Archaeological Department conducted excavations in the village after 1948, uncovering numerous old inscriptions, which have since been moved to the Golconda Archaeological Museum.
