Sree Chinakkathoor Bhagavathi Temple is a prominent Hindu temple situated in Palappuram, near Ottapalam in the Palakkad district of Kerala, India. The temple is famous for hosting the annual Chinakkathoor Pooram festival, which takes place during the Malayalam month of Kumbham.
The temple features two shrines: Thazhekavu (the lower shrine) and Melakavu (the upper shrine). It is believed that Melakavu is older than Thazhekavu.
The priests of the upper shrine are traditionally from the Kulangara Nair family of Palappuram, while the poojas in the lower shrine are conducted by Namboothiri priests.
The ten days of Pooram are overseen by the priests who are also in charge of the upper shrine. Adjacent to the temple complex, near the iconic banyan tree, there is a shrine dedicated to Lord Ganapathy, who is revered in his divine "Vidya Ganapati" form.
