Dichpally Ramalayam is a Lord Rama temple located in Nizamabad, Telangana, built in the 14th century by the Kakatiya kings. The temple shares strong architectural similarities with other structures from the Kakatiya dynasty.
It is also referred to as the Indhoor Khajuraho or the Khajuraho of Nizamabad, and is commonly known as Khilla Ramalayam.
The temple is constructed from black and white basalt stone, showcasing exquisite architecture and fine craftsmanship. It features intricate carvings of goddesses, animals, demons, and erotic sculptures in the style reminiscent of Khajuraho.
This ancient temple is renowned for its stunning sculptures, with intricate and beautiful carvings adorning the temple walls, ceilings, pillars, and door frames. The temple is enclosed by a masonry wall, featuring bastions at each of its four corners, and has a gateway facing the north.
