Sree Kanjilassery Mahasiva Temple is situated in Chemancheri village, Kozhikode district, Kerala, India. The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, who is enshrined in the Sanctum Sanctorum facing west.
According to local legends, the idol of the temple was installed by sage Parashurama. It is one of the 108 Shiva temples in Kerala. The temple is located approximately 4 km from Pookad Junction, along the Pokad-Thoraikadavu Road.
The Kanjilassery Maha Shiva Temple is also believed to be dedicated to sage Kashyapa and is regarded as the abode of Lord Shiva. The temple features the Rudraa, a form of rhythmic worship associated with Shiva during sacrificial rites.
Kasi, Kanchipuram, Kanjirangad, and Kanjilassery are believed to have been constructed around the same time as the Kanjilassery Shiva Temple.
