Malamakkavu Sree Ayyappa Temple is a renowned Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ayyappan, situated in Anakkara Panchayath, Palakkad district, Kerala. A special flower known as Chengazhinir Poovu is significant to the temple's rituals and offerings.
This flower, traditionally offered to the deity, is exclusively found and cultivated in the temple pond. The temple gained further recognition when it was featured in the Malayalam movie Neelathamera, although the filming took place at a different location.
The temple is situated in Malamakkavu Desom; however, contrary to what the name implies, it is not positioned atop a hill but rather at a lower elevation within the area.
The temple's name is spelled in various ways, such as "Mala-Mel-Kavu," "Mala-Mal-Kavu," or "Mala-yil-Kavu," all of which translate to "a temple (Kavu) situated on top (Mel) of a small hill (Mala).
