The Navalinga Temple is a group of Hindu temples built in the 9th century, during the reign of King Amoghavarsha I or his son Krishna II of the Rashtrakuta Dynasty.
The Navalinga Temple is located in the town of Kukkanur (also known as Kuknur), approximately 6 km north of Itagi in the Koppal district, and about 40 km east of Gadag in Karnataka, India.
Built in the South Indian Dravida style, the Navalinga Temple complex consists of nine individual temples, each housing a linga, the universal symbol of the Hindu god Shiva. This gives the cluster its name, "Navalinga.".
The Navalinga group of temples is arranged asymmetrically, lacking a specific order. Although built using relatively inferior quality sandstone, the temples still retain their architectural significance.
