The Rameshvara Temple, located in Kudli, Shimoga district, Karnataka, India, is a 12th-century Shiva temple. It is one of the earliest examples of non-ornate Hoysala architecture, showcasing a more simplified Vesara style of construction.
The village of Koodli, also spelled Kudli or Kudali, was an important town throughout the 14th century and has a rich history. It is home to the ruins of more than eight significant Hindu temples and monasteries representing various traditions, including Advaita, Dvaita, and Shakta.
It is situated approximately 18 kilometers (11 miles) north-east of Shimoga city, the district headquarters.
The town derives its name from its location at the confluence of the Tunga and Bhadra tributaries, which together form the Tungabhadra River.
