The Ranganatha Swamy Temple in Nirthadi (also spelled Neerthadi or Niratadi) is a reconstruction dating back to the post-Vijayanagara Empire period. Nirthadi is a village located in the Davangere district of Karnataka, India.
Renowned historian and epigraphist Benjamin Lewis Rice documented a Kannada inscription dated to 1698 AD found within the temple premises, which describes the destruction of the original temple by the armies of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1696 AD.
The temple was reconstructed in 1698 AD by Baramappa Nayaka, the Chitradurga chief (r. 1689–1721). The monument is now under the protection of the Karnataka state division of the Archaeological Survey of India.
A Kannada inscription from 1698 AD details the destruction of the original temple by the armies of Aurangzeb and its subsequent reconstruction by Baramappa Nayaka.
