Sankara Narayanasamy Temple, located in Sankarankovil, Tamil Nadu, is a Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva, known here as Sri Sankara Linga Swamy. Constructed in the 10th century CE by the Pandya king Ukkira Pandiyan, the temple is also a revered place of worship for Goddess Parvati, called Gomathi Amman. Within the temple grounds lies a snake pit called "Vanmikam," located near the Amman Sannidhi, where sand is believed to possess healing properties for various ailments. The Aadithapasu Festival, held in Ashadha, celebrates the divine union of Sankara Lingam and Narayanasamy, with rituals that include Gomathi Amman standing on one foot, symbolizing blessings and grace to her devotees.
