Sree Chakrapani MahaVishnu Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, situated in Thrikaripur, Kasaragod district, Kerala, India. According to local legends, the temple was established by the sage Parashurama. This temple holds historical significance and is regarded as one of the important religious sites in Kerala.
Inscriptions carved on the walls of the garbhagriha and the prakaram of Sree Chakrapani Temple are in Tamil, suggesting that Tamil was once the predominant language spoken in this region. Historians such as M.R. Raghava Warrier note that the 'Sanskritized' Tamil script found in the temple indicates the influence of the Vaishnava cult in the area.
Sree Chakrapani Temple is also of historical significance, believed to have been established by Parashurama himself in the form of Shatru Samharamurti, the destroyer of enemies.
It is said that even as Tipu Sultan's army destroyed numerous Hindu temples in North Malabar, they could not reach this temple. Legend has it that a herd of elephants drove away Tipu's army as they attempted to attack.
