Sri Vengdajalpathi Perumal Temple, located in Kuppalnatham Village, Peraiyur Taluk, Madurai District, Tamil Nadu, is a 400-year-old temple built during the Madurai Nayak dynasty. This sacred site features shrines dedicated to Venkatajalapathi, Arulmigu Sridevi, and Bhudevi. Recognized as a principal temple, it is managed under the Hindu Charities Department, with administration overseen by an appointed Administrator while litigation is pending. The temple comes alive during the Kuppalnatham Chithirai Thiruvilla festival, celebrated on the day of Chitra Poornami. During this vibrant festival, Sri Venkatajalapathi Perumal makes a grand entrance on a white horse vehicle in the Srikallagar Thirukolam. The festivities are further amplified at K. Paramanpatti village, located near the Poigai Malai River, where over 18 neighboring villages unite to celebrate the occasion, showcasing the temple’s role in fostering community spirit.
The festival extends its celebrations to multiple localities, including Kuppalnatham, K. Andipatti, and K. Paramanpatti. Additionally, three more mandapadis—Thantraiyar (Kuppalnatham Thantrayaan Temple Hall), Sedapatti (Sedapattiyar Mandapam), and Malayapar (Mountain Perumal Temple Hall)—also participate in the festivities. These gatherings highlight the cultural importance of the festival, creating an atmosphere of unity among various villages and offering a platform for communal interaction and shared traditions.
In addition to the main deities, the temple complex features several smaller shrines, including those for Anjunayar, Navagraha, Vinayagar, and Ammal.
