The Nanjundeshwara Temple, also known as the Srikanteshwara Temple, is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in the pilgrimage town of Nanjanagudu, Karnataka, India.
The Nanjundeshwara Temple is situated on the right bank of the Kabini River, a tributary of the Kaveri River. Nanjanagudu is also referred to as "Dakshina Kashi," meaning "Kashi of the South.".
The temple's Dodda Jaathre festival draws thousands of devotees each year. The celebrations feature five vibrant chariots, pulled by devotees along a path known as the ratha beedi. The Parasurama Temple is located near the Nanjundeshwara Temple.
The nine-story, 120-foot-tall gopuram (gateway tower) and its elaborate exterior were constructed by Devarajammanni, the queen of King Krishnaraja Wadiyar of Mysore.
