Talakaveri, also known as Talacauvery, is regarded as the source of the river Kaveri and is a revered holy site for many Hindus. Situated on the Brahmagiri hills near Bhagamandala in Kodagu district, it holds great spiritual significance.
Talakaveri is located in the South Indian state of Karnataka, near the border with Kasaragod district in Kerala. Standing at an elevation of 1,276 meters above sea level, it is traditionally regarded as the source of the Kaveri River.
There is no constant visible flow from Talakaveri to the main rivercourse, except during the monsoon season when the waters surge.
The temple at Tirumakudalu Narasipura, located at the confluence of the Kabini, Kaveri, and the legendary Spatika Sarovara, is dedicated to Agasthiwara.
