Tali Shiva Temple, also known as Tali Mahakshetram, is a prominent Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the center of Kozhikode city, Kerala. This historic temple was constructed in the 14th century under the patronage of the Zamorin of Calicut.
Tali Kshetram is an ancient temple situated in the heart of Kozhikode town, dedicated to Lord Shiva as the presiding deity. The Jyothirlingam in the Sanctum Sanctorum is believed to have been installed by Sage Parasurama.
The temple is located one kilometer east of Kozhikode railway station and is surrounded by the bustling Palayam market. Historically, it served as the family temple for the Zamorins, the rulers of Kozhikode.
Although the temple is currently managed by the Malabar Devaswom, the Zamorin remains the managing trustee. The temple showcases the traditional architectural style of Kerala, reflecting its cultural heritage.
