Thalikkunu Shiva Temple is among the oldest temples in Malabar and has faced numerous attacks throughout its history. It is currently under the stewardship of His Highness the Zamorin of Calicut.
Some of these temples were reconstructed by the Zamorin after his return following the defeat of Tipu Sultan in Sreerangapatanam and the Treaty of 1792.
Thalikkunu Shiva Temple is situated in Mankave, Kozhikode, Kerala. It is located approximately four kilometers from the Kozhikode Railway Station and five kilometers from both the private and KSRTC bus stands.
The most significant festival celebrated at the temple is Maha Shivaratri, observed on the Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi of the Hindu calendar month of Maagha, according to the Amavasya-ant month calculation. According to the Poornima-ant month calculation, it is observed on the same day but may vary slightly in its significance and rituals.
