The Thrikkakara Vamanamoorthy Temple, located in Thrikkakara near Ernakulam, Kerala, is the only temple in the state dedicated to Lord Vamana, the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
This ancient temple, believed to be around two millennia old, holds significant cultural and religious importance.
The temple is intricately linked to the legend of King Mahabali, a revered Asura king in Kerala's folklore. According to the myth, Lord Vamana, in the guise of a Brahmin boy, visited Mahabali and requested three paces of land.
Upon granting the wish, Vamana expanded to a colossal size, covering the heavens and the earth in two steps. For the third step, Mahabali offered his head, leading to his banishment to the netherworld.
