Triprangode Siva Temple is an ancient Hindu temple situated in Triprangode, near Tirur in the Malappuram district of Kerala. This historic temple is located approximately 5 kilometers west of Tirunavaya railway station and about 10 kilometers south of Tirur railway station.
Triprangode Siva Temple is recognized as one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimage centers in northern Kerala. The temple is referenced in the Kokila Sandeśa by Uddanta Sanstrikal, a work from the 15th century, highlighting its historical and cultural importance in the region.
Long ago, there lived a sage named Mrikandu, along with his devoted wife, Marudvati. Both were ardent worshippers of Shiva, the Eternal Lord and Ruler of Time, known as Mahakaleshvara, the Originator of Time, Mahakala. Their devotion to Shiva shaped their lives and their destiny, intertwining them with the divine.
As the couple was childless, they resolved to perform rigorous austerity rituals to seek the blessings of the divine for a child. Their devotion and perseverance caught the attention of Shiva, the Destroyer of Time (Kalari) or Kalasamhara Murti. One day, he appeared before them, ready to fulfill their heartfelt wish.
