Trithala Siva Temple (Malayalam: തൃത്താല മഹാ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം) is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located on the banks of the Bharathappuzha River in Thrithala, Palakkad District, Kerala. This historic temple is renowned for its serene riverside setting and spiritual significance.

In India, references to this temple appear in Aithihyamala by Kottarathil Sankunni, as well as in numerous Malayalam literary classics. The site where the idol is worshiped within the temple resembles a mound of sand, adding a unique aspect to its sacred ambiance.

According to legend, the Shiva Linga at this temple was crafted by Agnihotri using sand from the Bharathapuzha River. Due to its sandy composition, traditional anointing rituals are not performed on this unique Shivling.

The Shivalinga in the Trithala Shiva Temple sits at a slight angle, as Agnihotri’s mother, in an attempt to hold its divine energy, caused a subtle tilt. This temple is one of Kerala's 108 renowned Shiva temples. Historians believe it was constructed in the 9th or 10th century, showcasing a blend of architectural styles marking the transition from Chola to Pandya influences.
